Trick 'R Treat 2 Gets An Official Update From Director Michael Dougherty

It’s likely that director Michael Dougherty and the team from Warner Brothers weren’t expecting for their little direct-to-DVD horror flick to garner such a massive following, let alone see demand for a sequel. Over 15 years later, however, and a potential follow-up film isn’t even the only thing in the franchise’s future.

In 2022, Legendary Comics launched a Kickstarter campaign for “Trick ‘r Treat 15th Anniversary Omnibus Collection.” The collection includes both the original “Trick ‘r Treat” graphic novel adaptation as well as its sequel, “Trick ‘r Treat: Days of the Dead.” The follow-up sees Sam travel through various points in American history as he brings his special brand of terror to Halloween. Alongside this, the collection also includes a new story from Dougherty set in the “Trick ‘r Treat” universe that is exclusive to the Kickstarter and will not be made available in retail.

The campaign is currently still open, with an option for late backers to get in on the project. With the increased popularity of the original film and progress on “Trick ‘r Treat 2” looking good, hopefully, Legendary will make the new spin-off stories available to the public at some point down the road. Regardless, fans of the contemporary horror classic have a lot to look forward to.
