Long-time electronic graphics operator for CNN, Melissa Elkas, passed away on Wednesday, 2 Aug 2023, following a medical incident at the network’s New York headquarters.
The statement said that Melissa Elkas, an electronics graphics operator who had spent the last 25 years working for CNN, had departed after being taken to a nearby hospital.

“Melissa was a friend to everyone and dear friend to many,” the CNN executive team stated in a message to staff members. “She was friendly, compassionate, and enjoyed everything about CNN and what we do. She committed her entire life to supporting CNN, our journalism, and all we do daily.
The Adelphi University alumna began working for CNN in September 1997 in an entry-level capacity, according to her LinkedIn profile. In addition to being a coworker at CNN, Melissa developed into a beloved friend to many.
All who knew her admired her for her warmth, friendliness, and persistent devotion to CNN and the journalism profession.
Melissa devoted her whole career to CNN and the craft of delivering news and special projects to the public, pouring her heart and soul into her job.
She began her 26-year journey in Atlanta and eventually moved to New York, where she played a crucial part in some performances and specials.
She was an essential member of any team she joined because of her unwavering commitment to accuracy and precision in news reporting.
Everybody, including friends, family and coworkers, is missing and remembering Melissa, working for CNN for a very long time, and no one replaced her passion for her job; she wants everything to be perfect, which she is assigned to do.
