JSerra High quarterback Jaxon Potter and all-league defensive end/outside linebacker Ryan Zolnick have transferred to Santa Margarita, Eagles football coach Anthony Rouzier confirmed.
Potter, a junior, and Zolnick, a senior, were starters on a Lions team that finished 0-5 in the Trinity League in the coronavirus shortened and delayed season this spring.
Potter (6-4, 180) has been well-regarded since earning playing time as a freshman.
At Santa Margarita, he will compete with fellow junior Gavin Shaigineik among others as the team looks to fill the void left by class of 2021 standout Colt Fulton.
Zolnick (6-1, 215) earned first-team all-Trinity League honors this past season. He could help an Eagles’ defense that allowed an average of 39 points in the Trinity League this past spring.
Santa Margarita finished 2-3 overall, 1-3 in league.
JSerra could turn sophomore Dylan Mills (6-2, 190) to take the reins at quarterback under new coach Scott McKnight.
